This spin-off from the November 8 EKI lunch on Environmental Problems and Solutions will explore possibilities for developing curricular and co-curricular initiatives at the intersection of the environment, sustainability, and place. We envision bringing together and building upon existing programs as well as heading in some new directions. The general areas for consideration include:
- The concepts of sustainability and place
- Campus as a learning laboratory for sustainability
- Collaborations with the town of Grinnell
- Off-campus study of sustainability issues in other places
Scientific, economic, cultural/ethical, and policy perspectives conjoin. In addition to conventional classroom-based initiatives, we want to consider service learning, problem-solving pedagogy, and learning-by-living.
