The Future of African Studies at Grinnell College
Description: With the demise of the Africana Studies Concentration, what is the future of African Studies in the Grinnell College curriculum? At the present time courses focusing on Africa are isolated within departments, there is no sustained or interdisciplinary organization of this subject. Several faculty and students, especially African students, have expressed a strong desire to include African studies as a sustained part of the curriculum. The purpose of this Common Ground lunch is to promote an ongoing discussion about creating a place for African studies in a Grinnell College education.
