POLICY STUDIES
The analysis of policy fits well with Grinnell's traditional concern with social responsibility, as reflected in many existing programs, such as Rosenfield, Wilson, and Grinnell-in-Washington. Policy analysis, moreover, spans and impacts most liberal arts disciplines ranging from the obvious social sciences (e.g., political science and economics) to art, music, and literature (e.g., funding for the arts, transmission of culture between nations) to physics, chemistry and biology (e.g., technology policy, implications of scientific findings on environmental policy). At this EKI lunch, we hope to discuss how policy studies can offer new insight by merging disciplinary approaches (questions for inquiry, methods of analysis, data, and theory), how we can achieve an interdisciplinary approach to policy studies at Grinnell, and how such an approach could enhance existing Grinnell commitments and programs.
