Interdisciplinary Arts at Grinnell: New Media, Performance, and Cultural Studies
In preparation for an approved three-day faculty summer workshop, the Interdisciplinary Arts Group would like to reconvene to revisit what we might envision teaching within this expansive field, and how we might further define it. We believe this summer workshop and initiative can capitalize on Grinnell's superb and unified facilities in the arts. It also has potential to add a curricular emphasis paralleling the proposed development of a "Creative Computing Lab and Gallery" in the Forum as well as bringing together projects already underway involving collaborations between dance and music, sculpture and electronic music, music and theatre, and electronic arts. It also engages with emerging interest campus-wide in cultural studies, film, new media, and the social and human impacts of the Internet.
