TENURE-TRACK POSITION - PENINSULAR GOLDEN AGE (START FALL 2009)
GRINNELL COLLEGE. Tenure track position in Spanish, starting Fall 2009. Specialty in Golden Age with ability to teach Medieval, 18th and 19th Century Peninsular Literature. Possible areas of interest and competence may include: Cultural Studies, Ethnic Studies, Film Studies, Gender Studies and Transatlantic Studies. Assistant Professor (Ph.D.) preferred, Instructor (ABD) or Associate Professor possible. Grinnell College is a highly selective undergraduate liberal arts college. The Spanish Department trains students to examine the diverse cultural achievements of Latin America and Spain and enables them to respond with intelligence and sensitivity to a foreign culture. The College's curriculum is founded on a strong advising system and close student-faculty interaction, with few college-wide requirements beyond the completion of a major. Teaching load: five courses per year (language courses, Peninsular Literature and Culture) plus every few years one Tutorial, (a writing/critical thinking course for f
irst-year students, oriented toward a special topic chosen by the Instructor).
