Iowa State University and the National Science Foundation will be holding a one-day workshop at the University on Friday, October 15, 2004. We want to extend an invitation to you and to anyone else at your institution who would like to attend this workshop and learn more about the NSF and its programs.
Representatives from four of the NSF's directorates and from the Office of International Science and Engineering will make presentations on their programs and will also be available individually and in breakout sessions for more specific discussions of potential research proposals. The Biological Sciences; Mathematical and Physical Sciences; Computer & Information Science & Engineering, and Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences directorates will have representatives at the workshop. The National Science Foundation is charged with keeping our nation's science and engineering enterprise healthy, dynamic, and relevant and with advancing science, mathematics, engineering, and technology education at all levels from pre-K through postdoctoral. It is our hope that events such as this will stimulate new interest in NSF programs at institutions that have not been among our traditional customers, as well as at premier research institutions. There is a registration fee of $50.00, payable to Iowa State University
the day of the workshop; however, pre-registration is required Registration Form. Please register by Friday, October 8, 2004. The NSF Day workshop will be held at the Iowa State Center in Ames, Iowa. We expect that both those familiar with NSF programs and those who should be will find "NSF Day at ISU" useful and informative. We hope to see you there.
Additional information is available on the ISU web site at http://www.vpresearch.iastate.edu/nsf/index.html.
Grinnell College faculty planning to attend should submit their application forms directly to NSF. They should also contact Terri Phipps, phippst@grinnell.edu, to arrange transportation. The Deans' Office will pay for Grinnell College faculty registration and transportation.
