Present: Tom Crady, John Kalkbrenner, Dick Williams, Linda Price, Michael Sims, Bob Cadmus; architects Darin Cook and Phil Nelson were here from Cesar-Pelli.

Discussed in length the need for another entrance on the east side. An east side entrance presents a problem because all the loading docks, garbage cans, etc. are on this side. Committee members felt the students would want an entrance on the east side and felt there would be intense pressure to have an entrance there; ideally an entrance near the post office. Consensus is that students would take the shortest route to the campus center and an east side entrance would be needed. A north side entrance was also discussed. The architects explained all the logistics of an entrance, making it handicapped accessible, etc. They also stressed this decision needs to be made now so designs can move forward. The committee felt this issue should be raised with the students. All the entrances in the new building were discussed as well as cutting the loading dock area from four bays to three. The architects said the loading area had already been cut to four bays and reviewed all the equipment that would use this area inclu ding food service and the post office. Security in the servery was discussed as seating needs to be open and this could be a problem. The committee felt the dining hall could be used extensively after it closes but area would need to be secured. A 28 meal plan would include late night serving.

Other changes were discussed. The TV game room was moved to free up southern wall for more lounge space. The gallery was moved closer to the dining area and the storage area in the lower level was moved somewhat. A terrace on the second floor was added and Summer Programs is now on the second floor.

There will be an open forum from 2:30-4:30 today in south lounge and tomorrow (Aug. 13) there will be two sessions with faculty, staff and the dining service consultants.
