Darin Cook from Cesar-Pelli, Marty Salzberg, Cline Betteridge Bernstein and Cory Meier, Erickson Ellison -Interior and Exterior lighting design were present.

Committee members present: Frank Thomas, Linda Price, Eli Zigas, Nick Gill, Becca Stumpf, Barb Trish, Bob Cadmus, Mark Godar, Tom Crady, Sheree Andrews, Michael Sims and Dick Williams

Darin and Marty talked about lighting in all areas. There were drawings of lighting for each space. There will be lots of indirect lighting. The grill has double-height space which will be filled light. There will be various sizes of custom light fixtures, large and also smaller for intimate lighting. The multi-purpose room will have wall sconces and set light levels. The fire place will be a calm, quiet, intimate space. The main dining room has high ceilings with a drop down fixture with varying light levels. A short pendant fixture will be used along the balcony so you can see across the dining hall with no obstruction. Each window to the south facing Mac field has a low light. Intimate dining has lower lights, lets you know you've come to a different area. The multicultural dining area has a recessed fixture. The perimeter is always lit. There's no pendant lighting in the meeting rooms because it would interfere with projection screen. Down lighting helps conserve energy, can turn off lights when natural l ighting is prevalent. Step lights will be used in dining terrace, but won't put light on field.

Concerns were discussed about keeping fixtures clean and the bulbs to replace them. A lift will need to be used for maintenance. Most of the bulbs have 10,000 hours of life. Group re-lamping, replacing all bulbs, will be done for high ceiling lights. Will be using high color rendering index so that it gives better color for the food. Discussed fixed and temporary lighting in multi-purpose room stage area. Loading dock will have recessed down lights. Lights at doors and ramps will be step lighting.

Discussed public furniture. There will be a blue/green stone floor in the multi-purpose room with orange stone on the walls. The furniture will be a light maple wood. The chairs will have changeable covers. The outside grill floor is slate. There will be café tables with wood edges and the chairs will have a maple seat with an orange back. Discussed using floor glides on the chairs so they won't leave black marks when moved. The fireplace lounge will be warm and cozy. Red stone for the walls and the fireplace will be black granite. Douglas fir will be used for seating. Coffee tables will be "stump furniture". A lot of natural wood will be used. The flexibility of the furniture and coziness of the room was discussed. Benches will be placed in common areas, also on terraces. There will be acoustic fabric on the walls in the dining area to absorb noise. There will be a maple floor with carpeting in the Crescent dining area. This carpeting was discussed in regard to soiling. Mostly armless chairs in the dining pa vilion. There will be booths overlooking Mac field. Discussed different options for study lounges as far as furniture mobility/flexibility and furniture options. Power availability in lounge area was also discussed. Having similar furniture in different areas was talked about. Architects like a wider variety of styles/shapes. Committee members discussed moving furniture and what that means for different styles of furniture. Talked about outdoor furniture and storage in the building.
