WELLNESS COORDINATOR

Grinnell College, a place where excellence and the pioneering spirit are highly valued, has an opening for a full-time, 12-month Wellness Coordinator in the Department of Physical Education. Grinnell is looking for an enthusiastic and highly-qualified individual to launch a new era in campus wellness. The position would be expected to start August 1, 2008. The coordinator will be responsible for administrating a comprehensive wellness program to students, faculty, and staff.

The Wellness Coordinator will be responsible for planning and coordinating classes, workout programs, speakers, and seminars to promote healthy lifestyles for the entire College community. This person will work in conjunction with campus and community partners on fitness evaluations and data gathering of employees' health indicators. The coordinator will also teach wellness classes, oversee the wellness budget and chair the campus wellness committee. Wellness duties will comprise 80% of the job responsibility, with 20% of duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation. Possibilities include: assistant coach of a varsity sport, assist in the athletic training area, event management, assistant strength coach.

Candidates should be committed to wellness, as well as have the ability to administer and create innovative programs utilizing the College fitness center, teach classes, and faculty/ staff /student wellness activities. Candidates should possess the drive and enthusiasm to pioneer and initiate new ideas at the College before and after new construction of the final phase of our athletic complex in 2010.

Consideration will be given to candidates with a background in personal training, teaching of wellness-related cardio and fitness classes, exercise science, and work experience in the fitness/wellness field. Bachelor's degree required, masters preferred. Familiarity with an academically rigorous college or university is preferred.
