Technical Assistant - Office of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College

Grinnell College has an exciting opportunity in the Dean's Office, which supports and manages the academic program of the College. We are seeking an independent and service-oriented person to work with the Dean and Associate Deans, faculty, and other staff of the College.

Responsibilities: Provides reception and primary technical support for bookkeeping, electronic communication, and gathering and reporting of data in the Office of the Dean. Specific responsibilities may include: 1) Maintaining multiple budgets and databases; 2) Approving and auditing all charges to Dean's Office accounts including faculty scholarship, academic travel, student research, and faculty recruiting; 3) Collecting and reporting survey data for faculty evaluations; 4) Entering and maintaining faculty information; 5) Contributing secretarial support for the Dean's and Associate Deans' Offices, and 6) Completing other tasks that support the faculty and academic programs.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred; combination of higher education and five or more years progressively responsible accounting and secretarial experience in a service-oriented, confidential, computerized environment which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the responsibilities of the job will be considered. Extensive knowledge and experience in spreadsheet development and maintenance, databases, and word processing. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, with frequent interruptions, and with a high degree of accuracy. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills. Accurate composition and editing skills.
