STAFF TO STAFF DIVERSITY LUNCH SERIES

As a follow-up to our “What’s It Like To Be Me…”series, all staff members are invited to partake in the monthly Staff2Staff Diversity Lunch Series, a more in-depth program and discussion series for Grinnell staff around issues of diversity and social justice. Spend your lunch hour with us and hear about key diversity issues from our very own staff colleagues who will present on issues that they have personally experienced, researched, work with, and are passionate about. Each month (every first Wednesday), we will listen to a presentation around a specific topic and engage in dialogue as led by our staff presenter/facilitator. We will talk about how the issue relates to members of our Grinnell community, as well as, the world at a large; therefore, being sure to consider the topical impact on our students, each other (as colleagues), and the larger society.

Lunch is provided for the first 15 staff who register via the HR website

Sponsored by the Office of Human Resources & the Division of Diversity & Inclusion

Are you curious about other people?  Have you ever wanted to ask questions of, or hear stories from those who are different from you?  Are you interested in helping to build a socially just living and working environment at Grinnell? Here is one place to start!

Join us for the second year of “What’s It Like To Be Me…”,  a series of intentional small group conversations hosted by Grinnellians from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.  Your hosts will invite you into their proverbial home, into their world as they explore one of their group identities.  While no individual host can represent a particular identity group, they can share their own individual experiences and perspectives, and they can share how their unique identities intersect to impact their daily lives. Come listen to their stories, ask honest questions, and get to know them better!

We hope this programming series will enrich our appreciation of diversity training and provide a personal foundation for deeper discussions and relationship building.  Because of your support, “What It’s Like To Be Me…” has won the Midwest Region CUPA-HR (College and University Personnel Association – Human Resources) Successful Practices Award!
