The colleges listed below constitute Grinnell's official peer group. This list is used whenever comparative data are needed for internal purposes. These particular colleges were selected to be similar to Grinnell in size and academic quality, and to represent various regions of the country while keeping the list small. All are coeducational and all are members of the Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium. In general, preference was given to colleges located in small towns.
