Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS) in South Africa, in cooperation with Duke University, offers in-depth biology, ecology studies and training in field research. The program is based in a protected area that is home to thousands of animal and plant species. 

 

  • Location: Kruger National Park, South Africa

  • Courses:  Ecosystems and Diversity, Field Research Skills, Conservation and Management of Protected Areas in South Africa, and History through Culture of South Africa;  Research Project
  • Subject and themes: Biology, Environmental Studies
  • Field trips: Drakensburg Mountains, Cape Town
  • Housing: Group accommodation in various locations; rural home-stay
  • Prerequisites: All majors. GPA minimum-2.75. At least two semesters of biology. Environmental studies and course on Africa recommended.
  • Calendar: Fall and spring semester.
