Minnesota Studies in International Development (MSID) Program in Senegal focuses on development and social change through classroom study and field placements. The semester is divided into three parts: seven weeks of classes in the capital, Dakar, six-weeks of field study, and a week-long final seminar.

Courses: Curriculum includes theory and practice of development, national and regional history, economics, culture, and intensive Wolof, the majority ethnic language of Senegal.

Prerequisites: French majors: 300-level French. Non-majors: French 222. Coursework on Africa, development, and Francophone Studies recommended.
