The Danenberg Oberlin-in-London (DOIL) Program offers students the opportunity to study abroad with Oberlin College professors in one of the world's great cities. In the spring, two Oberlin faculty teach on the program, offering a course each in their area of specialty, and co-teaching one interdisciplinary course. Additional courses are offered by London faculty. All students are required to enroll in the two credit History of London course. Field trips, visits, theatre performances, concerts, walks, speakers, and independent projects that make use of London's myriad opportunities, will be planned to complement lectures, discussions and readings. Students have several housing options, including living in shared flats with other DOIL students, a dormitory-style residence hall which hosts both UK and international students, and homestays with London families. Eligibilty: The DOIL program is provided primarily as a spring-semester backup program for Grinnell-i n-London (GIL) applicants or as a spring-semester program for students who are unable to study off campus in the fall for academic reasons supported by their academic adviser. Students who have important extra-curricular or personal reasons may list DOIL as their first-choice program, but in this case must also apply for GIL as their second-choice. Approval of GIL or DOIL will depend on the reasons given in the application essay.
