  • IES in Rabat, Morocco is located in the capital, Rabat. The IES curriculum concentrates on Arabic language and North African Studies courses, taught in English and French.
  • Modern Standard Arabic is offered at the advanced beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels, while beginning Moroccan Colloquial Arabic is taught in an intensive course during the three-week program orientation in the city of Fez. Area studies courses taught in English in Rabat include, depending on the semester: North African Cultural Identities, Contemporary History of Morocco, Literature in Translation, American Cultural Discourse on Morocco, Islam in North Africa, Moroccan Politics, and Gender and Society.

  • Eligibility: Arabic Track: At least one semester of Arabic. French recommended. French Track: At least four semesters of French or equivalent. Arabic recommended. French-track students must also study Arabic in Morocco.
