Mr. Holtze is chairman and majority owner of the Magnolia Hotel Company, a hotel development and management company with properties in historic buildings in downtown Denver, Dallas, Houston and Omaha. Grinnell College awarded him a B.A. in physics in 1968, and Columbia University awarded him a B.S. in civil engineering in 1969 and a M.S. in civil engineering in 1970. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honorary fraternity. He is married to Grinnell alumna Elizabeth Alexander Holtze '68, Ph.D., a professor emeritus of English at a Metropolitan State College of Denver. They have three grown children and three grandchildren. Mr. Holtze enjoys his business immensely, but also loves travel and fishing. He is currently also serving on the Colorado Symphony Association Board of Trustees.
