Jessie Ternberg

A 1946 honors graduate from Grinnell with a B.A. in chemistry, Dr. Ternberg received a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry at the University of Texas and an M.D. degree from Washington University School of Medicine. She is Professor Emeritus of Surgery and Pediatrics at the Washington University School of Medicine and past Chief of Pediatric surgery of Children's Hospital of the Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Ternberg has been active in the Alumni Association, has spoken at the College's Scholars' Convocation, and has given advice and counsel on various matters with regard to health care careers for students, educational development, and other concerns of the College. Among other honors, an endowed lectureship has been established in Dr. Ternberg's honor at the Washington University School of Medicine.
