NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION INFORMATION FALL 2006-07

Welcome to Grinnell! Because we want your first semester on campus to be a positive experience, these tips should help get you off to a good start:

BEFORE REGISTRATION - Obtain your green Registration Approval form from your post office box. Do not lose this form because you cannot attend registration without the Registration Approval form! This form also indicates the randomly selected group number you have been assigned for registration. Students are granted entry into Harris Center when their group number is called.

Inevitably, many of you will have an office hold placed on your registration (NOT APPROVED noted on the form). Holds are placed by the Cashier's Office, Health Center, Financial Aid or Registrar. These holds must be taken care of before you will be allowed to register for any classes. If you have a hold, please visit that office immediately. If, for some reason, you lose your form, please contact our office immediately, so a duplicate can be made. Students who lose their Registration Approval form that shows their registration group number are reassigned to the last group allowed into Harris Center. Keep in mind that our office will not be open Wednesday afternoon, and we will not be able to produce a form for you during registration.

TIP OF THE DAY: Clear your holds early! The lines to the cashier and financial offices are long on registration day. To avoid getting stuck in a line, thus missing your entry to Harris Center, visit these offices on Saturday (10:00-4:00) or during normal business hours (8:00-5:00) Monday and Tuesday.

REGISTRATION DAY - Remember to bring your Registration Approval form and have ALL of your office holds cleared prior to lining up at Harris Center. Students will be allowed into registration using a randomly assigned group number. Bring your Registration Card that you should have received from your tutorial adviser. After obtaining all the required signatures on your card, don't forget to turn your card in at the Registrar's table. Getting a signature does not finalize your place in a class - you must turn your card in to the registrar's office staff!

AFTER REGISTRATION - CAREFULLY review your schedule. On Thursday you will receive a copy of your schedule in your campus mailbox and you may view your schedule via your Pioneer Web account. If there are any errors, you should visit the registrar's office immediately. Also, if you make changes, drop or add a course, or are admitted from a wait list, you must file a drop/add form with this office by the drop/add deadline, or your change is not official.

OTHER SERVICES - The registrar's office also processes drop/add forms, keeps permanent academic records, monitors your major requirements and degree progress, and sends official Grinnell transcripts. Questions about transfer and Advanced Placement credit evaluations are dealt with here, as well.
