RESIDENCY POLICY

All students are required to room in College residences and to board with College dining. Exceptions to this policy are granted to the very few students who: are 22 years of age or older by September 1; live with their parents who reside in the Grinnell area; are legally married (or legally partnered in a civil union) by the start of the fall semester; or have a child(ren) who lives with them.  Exceptions are also granted to a limited number of seniors and third-year students who request to live off campus and have been granted permission by the Department of Residence Life and Orientation. Permission to live in non-College housing must be obtained from the Department of Residence Life and Orientation each academic year.  Students should not sign a lease until permission to live in non-College housing has been obtained. Students who move out of the residence halls without permission from the Department of Residence Life and Orientation are held financially responsible for room and board.
