2012 On-Campus Summer Housing

Summer housing is available to summer research/MAP students, full time summer interns, and (student) College employees who work a minimum of 30 hours per week.   

Dates (terms) for 2012 on-campus summer housing:
10 weeks (full term): May 27 at 3 p.m. through August 4 at 12 noon.  Students only needing part term housing (less than 10 weeks) must clearly indicate dates housing is needed on the Summer Housing Contract.  Part term housing is on a 'space available' basis (priority will be given to full term requests). Students are housed in single rooms whenever possible.  If the need warrants, students will be housed with a roommate.   (Houses are not air conditioned.)

To secure summer 2012 housing, students must submit their Summer Housing Contract and payment for the first week’s rent by noon on Friday, May 11 to the Residence Life and Orientation Department (3rd floor/JRC).  Payment may be made by check, credit card, or cash.  (Please make checks payable to Grinnell College).  The remainder of rent is automatically deducted from student's payroll checks or stipend.  A $50 key deposit will be charged to the student's College account when summer housing keys are assigned/issued.  Deposits will be refunded when the key is returned at check out.  Any damage or excessive cleaning charges incurred during the summer term will be billed directly to the student's College account. Students who request summer housing after the May 11 deadline will be housed on a 'space available' basis. Requests made after the deadline are not guaranteed.

Interim Housing:  Interim housing is available to a small number of students who are unable to leave campus before and/or after the summer housing term.  Students must request special permission for early and/or late summer interim housing from the Residence Life and Orientation Department.  Students may be placed in transitional housing during the interim housing term(s). Interim housing dates are as follows:

  • 5 p.m. Monday, May 21 through 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27
  • 12 noon Saturday, August 4 through 8 a.m. Tuesday, August 21

Early Interim Housing:  ONLY available to students who will be living on campus during the summer, and whose summer housing term begins Sunday, May 27.  The Summer Housing Contract must be submitted by the due date. 

Late Interim Housing: ONLY available to students who will be living on campus during the summer, and whose summer housing term extends until/ends Saturday, August 4.  The Summer Housing Contract must be submitted by the due date.

Short term/temporary storage, summer housing room keys,  and laundry facilities: Students will receive information via email prior to the start of summer housing.
