Project Houses

Three project houses are available to students. A project house consists of students with a common interest and a desire to promote that interest to the campus community.

  12 spaces (4 doubles, 4 singles)

• 1130 East Street
  10 spaces (4 singles, 3 doubles)

• 1023 Park Street
  8 spaces (2 singles, 3 doubles)

GENERAL INFORMATION

• Project Houses are gender neutral. Groups may be single sex, co-ed, or gender neutral.
• Students planning to take a leave of absence during the fall term may not apply for a Project House.
• All rooms/spaces must be filled the entire year. Students studying abroad in the fall or planning to graduate in December must use our “room split” procedure (one student occupies the room/space in the fall -- another student occupies the room/space in the spring).
• Students on leave (during the spring term) must be officially approved to return to campus for the upcoming fall term before the application deadline to be eligible to apply for a Project House.
• Students awarded a Project House:  do NOT participate in Room Draw; are automatically removed from the Off-Campus Non-College-Owned waitlist (if applicable); and will not be released from their House Contract or considered for a room change request prior to Room Draw.
• Students awarded a Project House must notify Dining Services of the meal plan option preferred, even if planning not to purchase a meal plan. Please visit the diningoptions web site for more information.
• Students not awarded a Project House may apply for any Special Housing Draw.

Groups interested in a house must submit a project proposal. Each proposal must include (but is not limited to): a detailed description/type of project; group/house goals; how goals will be achieved; reason a house is needed; and how the group will be held accountable for the project. Groups may present project ideas previously used, however, the main focus should be goals for the upcoming academic year.

Each group must present their proposal to the Residence Life Committee at the Project House Presentation Session.  House Coordinators are notifed via email the time their group will present.  ALL members of the house must be present at the House Presentation Session (unless currently abroad).  

Each house will have a House Coordinator, who is responsible for the following:

• ATTEND MANDATORY STUDENT STAFF TRAINING IN AUGUST AND JANUARY.
• Return the completed House Application and signed House Contracts to the Residence Life and Orientation Office by the application deadline. 
• Notify all group members of their Project House Presentation date and time.  All members must attend the Project House Presentation Session, unless currently studying abroad or excused by the Residence Life and Orientation Office.
• If awarded a Project House, room assignments must be submitted for each semester to the Residence Life and Orientation Office by the deadline.  A floor chart will be provided to House Coordinators following the announcement of house awards.
• Serve as the liason between the Project House and Residence Life during the upcoming academic year.
