parking along the drive behind Nollen House.
Briscoe brought up to the committee that he has received a number of complaints concerning vehicle parking in the drive behind the Nollen House. Chief Sittig of the Grinnell PD will look into doing something about this sense this is city property. Maybe no parking signs can be erected at the location or the curb painted.

Fine Arts Building Drive No signs in drive.
Briscoe brought up that he has received complaints that there is no signs in the Fine Arts Building circle drive area to indicate that you cannot park at the location. Facilities Management will be contacted concerning placing signs in the drive.

Parking on sidewalks, grass areas beginning of school.
Briscoe brought up that he has received complaints concerning people parking on the sidewalks and grass areas of the college at the beginning of the school year. The committee decided that this is a universal problem at numerous colleges across the country. They felt this is part of the college process. Briscoe stated that his staff or lax during this time to accommodate the move in but they try to enforce the areas at other times.

Parking along Park Street, 24 hour zone complaints
Briscoe is getting complaints concerning vehicle being parked along Park Street overtime in the 24 hour zone. The committee expressed concern that if we crack down on the parking on the street at that location that vehicles will move to other neighborhood streets. It was suggested that maybe we can tow the cars that stay to long on the street. The police department stated that they have a full tow lot now and some of the cars have been on the pd lot for a year. There was concern that the people parked on the street really have no where to go if the city starts cracking down on vehicles parked overtime on the street at that location. Briscoe stated that there is parking for people up at the football field lot. The committee thought there should probably be some type of incentive for people to park up at the lot. Briscoe stated there is already an incentive, the lot is free. The committee talked about alternate day park on each side of Park Street. There was concern that vehicles would stay to long at each location on the street.

Diagonal Parking on Park Street.
It was brought up that maybe we can look into head in parking on Park Street like what's on East Street. The committee discussed that this has been brought up before.

It was brought up that students are confused about the parking signs on Park Street. The committee felt the sign language needs to be cleaned up. The committee felt that maybe the signs should read, " No Parking midnight-4am".

parking on 10th Avenue for Dinning Services Employees.
It was brought up that students are still parking in the staff spots located on 10th Avenue across from the new Power Plant. These spots were reassigned last year for faculty/staff only. The areas is really used for Dinning Services employees that work at Cowles Dinning Hall. The committee felt that maybe new language could be added to the signs stating, "faculty/staff Parking 5:30am-10pm"

Visitors parking area behind Windsor House being turned into Faculty/Staff parking.
The committee decided that this may not be a good ideal since this is the only visitor parking area for the Art Gallery.

Vacate grass lot at the corner of Park/5th being turned into a parking lot.
The committee felt that this lot should be looked at for a parking lot.

Church Parking Lot at the corner of 6th/State Street.
The committee felt that we could approach the Church about the college using the lot during the week for parking. Maybe renting spaces from them.

New Residence Hall Buildings on East Street.
It was brought up that there is concern that this area is going to force parking out onto the city streets since there is no parking designed for the residence halls.

New Campus Center Parking Concerns.
It was brought up that there is a concern that there is no parking designed for the New Campus Center. This is going to force parking out onto the city streets.

Additional Parking lot in the PEC Area.
It was brought up that the campus may consider expanding the PEC parking lot to south of the PEC along the Railroad tracks area.

Mears Visitors Lot
It was brought up that maybe this area could be turned into a Faculty/Staff parking area.

Children Crossing sign behind the Pre-School in the Alley.
It was brought up that the Pre-School is inquiring about possibly putting up children Crossing signs in the alley. This will alert people that children are in the area and may be crossing the alley. These signs would be put at each end of the alley. Briscoe will be talking with the city Pd on this and a letter may have to be sent to the city Public Safety Committee concerning this.

Football Field Parking
The committee talked about maybe a carport being constructed in the football field area for long term parking vehicles. In addition the committee talked a little about the possibility of a parking garage being constructed on campus somewhere.
