Fall 2003
Chicago
Leaders: Kafila Odesanya '04 and Mahi Demissie '06 Would you like to spend your Fall Break working with children? Would you like to spend some time in Chicago? We will be tutoring pre-school and middle school kids, helping at a soup kitchen, and teaching English to minority groups and/or immigrants. In the meantime, we will be working to create awareness about multi-cultural differences and appreciating them. Throughout the week we will be volunteering during the day but we will have evenings free to enjoy the Chicago area. Pictures from this trip
East St. Louis
Leaders: David Wylie '06 and Molly Goodwin-Kucinsky '06 This trip will focus on urban development issues in East St. Louis, a community across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, Missouri. We'll be working with Emerson Park Development Corporation on neighborhood projects, such as repairing rehab houses and homes for the elderly. Emerson Park Development Corporation combats pervasive problems with urban decay by focusing on street repair, beautification, housing, and education. We'll work on several different physical projects throughout the week, and will stay in a local church. Pictures from this trip
