Covenant House Faith Community looks for energetic graduates for their yearlong service program. Covenant House offers a fantastic opportunity to work with a world-renown nonprofit at the forefront of ending youth homelessness. Program members serve the homeless youth of Covenant House, live in a community setting with other service members, and spend time in daily personal and communal prayer/reflection.
Covenant House has three pillars that help guide and hold up their community: Service, Community, and Prayer and Reflection. Prayer and reflection can take on many forms. Covenant House was founded in the Catholic tradition; however they welcome members of all faiths and beliefs, as well as non-believers. Covenant House encourages their program members to spend 30 minutes a day in prayer and reflection. This can be more traditional (scripture passages and responses), or less traditional (yoga, meditating, reading an article or watching a movie together). Covenant House encourages communities to gather and pray and reflect when they can.
Faith Community members primarily serve in direct care with Covenant House youth, as resident advisors, youth workers, or case managers. The opportunity offers great hands-on experience working with homeless and at-risk youth.
