Sometimes personal concerns interfere with your academic success. Many students
have found that one or more sessions with a mental health counselor can help resolve
these issues, or at least help strategize and decide how to cope with their concerns.
You may contact the Mental Health Center directly, or an RLC or other
Student Affairs staff member can help you make the call.
If you do not have transportation to get to your appointment, call the Health Center and
a student driver will take you there in the College's van. Some students, for the
sake of privacy, like to tell the van driver that they are going to Grinnell Family Care, a
doctor's office which is across the street. Then you can walk across the street after
the van leaves.
Counselors from Poweshiek County Mental Health Center are available M-F from
10:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Grinnell's campus. Students wishing to talk to a therapist
are seen on a first-come, first-serve basis. To acess this service go to the Health
Center in the basement of the Forum.
