Academic Advising is one of Dotty's passions because she understands the importance
of helping students navigate the academic landscape of Grinnell. She is well-versed
in time management, test taking, and note taking strategies that can help students
achieve their academic goals. Guiding students to become the authors of their own
destinies is what excited Dotty about collaborative advising. Dotty sees herself as a
resource and support person, who empowers students to develop a holistic approach
towards their educational experience. Dotty is a first generation college graduate who
completed her M.A. in student affairs from the University of Northern Iowa and her B.A.
from the University of Iowa in social work. She is Mestiza that resides in Tama, IA with
her partner and 10 year old Australian Cattle dog, Duke.
