OFF-CAMPUS STUDY 

  • Students with disabilities are encouraged to pursue opportunities to study off campus. If you have a documented disability that may require assistance while you are studying away from Grinnell, contact Joyce Stern in Academic Advising ([sternjm], x3702) to arrange for the review of your documentation and coordination of services. In consultation with Joyce Stern, the Off-Campus Study Office will work with the local program director to arrange accommodations necessary during your time away. Accommodations, facilities and services vary from country to country, so it's helpful to provide as much advance warning as possible.
  • Access Abroad is a program for U. Minnesota students, but some information may be applicable to Grinnell programs.
  • Transitions Abroad (an online magazine) has a special section on travelling with a disability; some articles are written by or about students going on study abroad.
  • Global Access provides accessible travel resources for wheelchair users and mobility-impaired people. 
  • Mobility International USA has good information, once you decide to travel.
  • National Travelers Database at "Project Action" is a database of accessible community transportation in cities across the U.S.
  • CDC Information offers information for travelers with disabilities.
  • State Department also offers Tips for Disabled Travelers and Advice on Traveling with Disabilities, once you decide to travel.
