Introduction to Psychology (Psychology 113) is the first course for all students interested in psychology and is a prerequisite for other courses in the department. Psychology 113 is a one semester course offered both fall and spring semesters. Students interested in psychology should take Psychology 113 (Introduction to Psychology) in their first year and either Mathematics/Social Studies 115 (Introduction to Statistics) or Mathematics 209 (Applied Statistics) in their second or third semester. A score of 4 or 5 on the AP psychology exam will exempt a student from Psychology 113 and serve as a prerequisite for upper-level courses in the psychology curriculum although the credits will not apply to the major. A score of 4 or 5 on the AP statistics exam will exempt students from the required statistics course.
Students interested in the psychology major should take the required Psychology 225 (Research Methods) in their third or fourth semester and should consult with their faculty adviser.
