Review Team's Visit

In the fall of 2012, a review team consisting of the following members conducted a thorough review of the Academic Advising department:

  • Kate Gluckman, Assistant Professor of Physical Education & Head Women's Basketball Coach
  • Minna Mahlab, Director of the Science Learning Center & Lecturer
  • Alec Maliwanag '14, Student-at-Large
  • Roger Vetter, Professor of Music
  • Jane Martindell, Dean for Academic Advising and Support, Kenyon College

The review was conducted October 7-9, 2012. On Sunday evening, the review team met briefly with Vice President for Student Affairs W. Houston Dougharty and Joyce Stern; on Monday the team met with faculty, staff, and students involved with the Academic Advising Department; Tuesday morning the team had individual follow‐up sessions with Joyce Stern and W. Houston Dougharty.

The charge of the review and assessment team was to examine the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of the Grinnell College Academic Advising department and Disability Resources program.

Once the review team's final report was submitted to W. Houston Dougharty, Vice-President for Student Affairs, the report was sent sent to Joyce Stern '91, Dean for Student Success and Academic Advising, for review and comment.
