The Office of International Student Affairs Self-Study

The self-study for the Office of International Student Affairs can be found HERE.

In preparation for the self-study and review, the Office of International Student Affairs surveyed all Grinnell College international and global nomad students in November 2010. An executive summary of this survey can be found HERE.

Review Team's Visit

In the fall of 2011, a review team consisting of the following members conducted a thorough review of the International Student Affairs department:

  • Harriett Dickey-Chasins '82, Student Health & Counseling Staff Psychologist & Training Director
  • David Harrison, Associate Professor of French and Director of the Center for International Studies
  • Raghav Malik '13, Student-at-Large
  • Wadzi Motsi '12, Student Government Association Vice-President for Academic Affairs
  • Gemma Sala, Assistant Professor of Political Science
  • Kathy Foley-Giorgio, Associate Dean/Director of International Student and Scholar Services, Middlebury College

The review was conducted September 18-20, 2011. On Sunday evening, the review team met briefly with Vice-President for Student Affairs W. Houston Dougharty and Karen Edwards; on Monday the team met with faculty, staff, and students involved with the Office of International Student Affairs; Tuesday morning the team conducted individual follow‐up sessions with Karen Edwards and W. Houston Dougharty.

The charge of the review and assessment team was to examine the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of the Grinnell College Office of International Student Affairs.

Once the review team's final report was submitted to W. Houston Dougharty, Vice-President for Student Affairs, the report was sent sent to Karen Edwards, Assistant Dean and Director of International Student Affairs, for review and comment.
