Gabe Barela

Gabe began working at Grinnell in July 2012. Previously completing his Masters in Ames, Iowa, he fell in love with infinite cornfields, CyHawk rivalry, and Iowa State Fair fried food smorgasbord and the rest is history. He attended Colorado State University located in the foothills of northern Colorado for his undergraduate degree. Gabe has worked in financial aid at two different institutions and has worked extensively with first generation college students and underrepresented student populations throughout his undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Gabe is from a small, rural town in the San Luis Valley and is excited to relocate to the big city of Grinnell and the bright lights of the Strand Theatre. Students can come to him for any college related concerns or to chat about sports, anything 'outdoorsy', or listen to some really AWESOME music in his office with him!
