The Emergency Room at Grinnell Regional Medical Center functions on a 24-hour basis to serve the public in times of SUDDEN ILLNESS, ACCIDENT, or any other MEDICAL EMERGENCY.
Hospital policy dictates that the patient's own physician be called for emergencies before 5:00 p.m. If the doctor is not available the consortium list of physicians will be used.
There is a minimum charge ($28.00) for the use of the Emergency Room. This charge is for the use of the Emergency Room only and does not include your doctor's fee for emergency services, the cost of supplies, etc.
- Before 5:00 p.m. call your doctor at his office. After 5:00 p.m. and weekends call the hospital emergency room for further information. Direct line: 7-236-2380.
- To save time in an extreme emergency, you may wish to call an ambulance, or go to the Hospital Emergency Room by automobile before calling the doctor.
- Have someone call the hospital to alert the Emergency Room that the patient is en route to the hospital, if there is time.
- Nurses are assigned to the Emergency Room to help immediately if there is not sufficient time to call.
- The entrance for Emergency Room is located on Third Avenue between Reed and Prairie Streets.
