Transportation
Student Health and Counseling Services (SHACS) provides transportation to off-campus medical and mental health appointments in Grinnell. We also provide scheduled transportation to local pharmacies.
We would appreciate at least an hour’s notice if you will need a ride. This helps our receptionist and driver plan to get you where you need to be on time. We understand that there will be times that you will make an appointment and need to leave for it right away.
When your appointment is done, you may call SHACS to be picked up and returned to campus. If you would like to go to a pharmacy, you can to be dropped off at a pharmacy and picked up again later.
Prescriptions
The first time you fill a prescription at Medicap, Hy-Vee, or Wal-Mart, you will need to go to the pharmacy. Thereafter, Medicap and Hy-Vee will deliver your prescriptions to SHACS and you can pick them up here. If you take a prescription every month, you will need to call your pharmacy to request your refills and to request delivery to SHACS. It is important that you call a few days before your current prescription runs out.
Please note that Wal-Mart does not deliver. At 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, we provide transportation to Wal-Mart so you can pick up prescriptions. Earlier in the day, you must verify that your prescription is ready to be picked up.
