SubAcute Care Program
If nursing or medical assessment determines that a student is too ill to remain on campus but does not require full hospitalization, we may refer the student to Grinnell Regional Medical Center (GRMC) to the SubAcute Care Program. Through the SubAcute Care Program, students receive limited nursing care and meals, provided by GRMC staff, at no cost. Over-the-counter medications and limited dressings will be provided by our nursing staff, also at no cost. All other expenses, including lab work, physician visits, physical therapy, and prescribed medication, will be billed to you.
Students are referred to the SubAcute Care Program through SHACS, a physician's office, or the GRMC Emergency Room in consultation with our Medical Director, Dr. Jerome Wehr.
