Students are expected to attend Room Draw unless the student has:
- Applied to any off-campus study program for the fall semester or full academic year.
- Accepted permission to live in off-campus non-College-owned housing.
- Been awarded a space in a College-Owned House, Group Draw, Mini Co-op, Triple Room Draw, or Cowles Apartment.
- Been selected as Student Staff, Hall Social Coordinator, Admissions Host, Black Cultural Center Monitor or Grinnell House Monitor.
Entrance into Harris Center Concert Hall will be according to class status and random number assignment. Due to time considerations, people with sequential numbers may be in the hall simultaneously. Students should make room choices as quickly as possible because a delay may allow a person with a higher number to choose a room first.
If two or more roommates have the same class status, the roommate with the
lower random number assignment will be allowed to choose the room. The random number assignment(s) of the other roommate(s)
are canceled and are not transferable. The group must choose a room with capacity equal
to the occupancy of the group (i.e. two students cannot draw a triple). All members of a roommate group must be present for room selection.
Any student who will be absent from Room Draw should notify Student Affairs. Student Affairs may approve another student
or the Student Affairs office to complete room selection for the student or group.
Upon entrance into the Concert Hall, students will receive a label with their name on it. Hall charts will be on tables by RLC hall clusters.
Students should go to the table with the charts of the desired hall and place their label on the open room of their choice.
If students are late or absent, the draw will proceed without them. A student who is late for the Room Draw for his/her class may draw a room upon arrival during the designated time period. Students who miss Room Draw will complete a Room Request Form (available from the Residence Life Office) and housed according to the Room Draw procedure during the summer.
PLEASE NOTE: Class status is determined by the Registrar. The Residence Life Office will NOT reclassify students for housing purposes. Please contact the Registrar's Office if you have questions about your class status.
Full-time ninth-semester students or student teachers who are interested in living in the residence halls must notify the Residence Life Office. They will be housed on a 'space available' basis.
