Philosophy

The mission of the Office of Multicultural Affairs is designed to provide the resources necessary for the multicultural students to express and explore their cultural identity, and to provide an academic, social, and cultural support structure for students. The office seeks to provide a forum by which issues of multiculturalism and diversity can be broadly addressed on campus and in the surrounding communities. Lastly, the office seeks to collaborate with academic and other departments within and outside student affairs, and external organizations to enhance and expand programs, activities, and services, and to support the academic mission of the college.

Mission

The mission of multicultural affairs is to provide counseling, advisement, programming, and resources related to multicultural issues. This is done by providing:

  • individual/group counseling to students for personal and academic issues.
  • advice, specifically to multicultural organizations, to all student organizations as it relates to multicultural sensitivity issues and programming.
  • educational and social programming through the student affairs office, multicultural student organizations and collaboration with other campus departments and organizations.
  • resources to the campus for multicultural programs and issues.
