The Office of Multicultural Affairs invites you to participate in the Peer Connections Program, which enhances your Grinnell experience. This eight-week program provides guidance on how to:
- ease any first-year anxieties that crop up.
- handle new academic challenges and routines.
- make an adjustment to life in the residence halls.
The Peer Connections Program pairs first-year US students of color, international students and first-generation students with volunteer Peer Mentors who have completed at least one full year at Grinnell College. The program is designed to help you make a smooth transition to life at Grinnell. Peer Mentors are trained to listen to concerns in a nonjudgmental manner and assist in identifying ways to resolve first-year student concerns. In the first eight weeks of the semester, your mentor will meet with you on a weekly basis to discuss student life, campus culture, classes and available resources. Each week will consist of a different activity that will take you to different place on campus and in town. After the eight weeks, you and your mentor will evaluate how often you would like to meet for the remainder of the semester.
If you are interested in this program please fill out the Peer Mentee Matching Form, which will assist us in matching you with a Peer Mentor.
