IPOP Participant Forms:
- Host Family Program request [due July 1, 2013]
- IPOP Arrival Confirmation Form [due August 1, 2013]
The International Pre-Orientation Program (IPOP) is held in August, just prior to New Student Orientation (NSO). New international students and language assistants are required to attend, and US students living abroad are also invited. Fall 2013 participants must arrive on Sunday August 18 or Monday August 19, and may move into their fall housing assignment to attend IPOP (which runs from August 20 - 23).
IPOP helps prepare participants for a successful transition to life and learning at Grinnell. Details are available in the IPOP Preparation Packet (which is sent by mail). The program includes campus and community tours, shopping for items that don't 'pack well', and time to open a bank account. Students learn about a variety of regulatory issues that impact their stay, meet their Host Family, get to know Grinnell staff and faculty, and have a great time with new classmates and the IPOP Leadership Team!
Following IPOP, all new students (international and domestic) participate in NSO - which includes tutorial meetings, language placement tests, computer workshops, course registration, etc. This is a great time to become acquainted with one's academic advisor, hall/roommate(s) and Residence Life Coordinator (RLC).
* Global Nomads / Third Culture Kids are individuals who have spent significant parts of their childhoods outside of their passport country - usually because of a parent's occupation. Global Nomad students are invited to participate fully in OISA programming, including IPOP and the Host Family Friendship Program.
