ISB is our attempt to help bring global perspectives
to local venues! Grinnell's active international population make up 11% of the student body and come from over 50 countries. They provide a panorama of perspectives and insights that can be a valuable resource to the community.
"Tell me and I will forget. Show me and I may remember. Involve me and I will understand."
This Chinese proverb is the guiding principle behind ISB. The speakers are volunteers, not professional presenters - but they are experts with respect to their own lives, and they are enthusiastic about sharing a ’view from their window’.
If you are interested in organizing a local presentation (for a school classroom, a club meeting, a 4-H group, etc...), please contact Eric Vos, the ISB Coordinator, with your request. It is their job to listen to your needs and interests and to help to match you with a student presentor who can help accomplish your program goals. We will match you with the student speaker by phone and email, and will help you think through organizational details like transportation and timing. We can also help you (and the student presenter) think through the preparation of an interesting program that will be age and venue appropriate.
