Hi! My name is Joo Hyun and I am from Seoul, South Korea. I am currently sophomore majoring in Biology and pursuing Global Development Studies concentration.

When I first came to Grinnell, I never imagined the rich and valuable experiences I would have here. Grinnell's academic and social atmosphere was something that I have always wanted. Academically, I was impressed by the size of classes, the quality of students, approachableness of professors, and especially the excellent Science program, which is hard to find in other liberal arts colleges.

My social life is something that I have never had before. The community is open, diverse, friendly, and willing to help. As my friends often say, Grinnell is indeed a place where everybody would give you a hug if you need one! Because of its friendly nature, I easily fit in without feeling awkward and have been actively participating in many student organizations such as International Student Organization, Grinnell Symphony Orchestra, and BioSEPC Committee.

Grinnell has changed me in so many good ways and I am truly happy to be here!
