Hi! My name is Nmachi Jidenma. I am a native of Nigeria majoring in Economics. Grinnell has provided everything I wanted in a college. There are truly no limits. The college is supportive with advice and resources, and the challenge to push your-self to the next level is extremely rewarding.

I have always wanted to be involved in publications, and with Grinnell's support, I found an outlet to make it happen and started a campus publication called the Grinnell Economist.

Grinnell also has a way of helping students discover their inner passions - mine is Africa. By attending symposiums and panels on global issues and African affairs and by helping co-ordinate events about Africa, I have been able to actively and constructively explore my interest in the region. I am currently enrolled in a mentored advanced project focusing on African Capital Markets. The opportunity to design a class that caters to my passion and personal zeal as a student has been tremendous.


Of course, the shock of being surrounded by cornfields can be quite jarring, but it is scenery that one learns to love in a very profound way. I love this place because the combination of the landscape, people and atmosphere enables one to discover their best self.
