The Grinnell College Libraries are your gateway to the changing world of texts, images, and sound. The library staff is a dedicated, enthusiastic team focused on providing you with the information and services you need as you pursue your college education. Librarians are knowledgeable about the variety of information formats and resources, and are eager to work with you to locate the best materials for your research. Librarians offer a variety of opportunities for consultation: in-depth assistance from a reference librarian, on-call reference service, individualized library lab appointments offer, and in-class instruction on subject-specialized tools. There is no need to wait until you encounter a roadblock when you can start your research by working with a reference librarian. For a complete list of hours and services, consult the libraries' web page at http://www.lib.grinnell.edu. Library hours are listed on Your Grinnell Timetable," p. v of this handbook.

LIBRARY CATALOG

INNOPAC is the online catalog for all the Grinnell College Libraries. Books, journals, videos, recordings, scores, reserve readings, electronic books, Internet resources, and other materials are listed here. The catalog offers many search options and you may e-mail references to yourself to avoid writer's cramp. The catalog is available on the World Wide Web at http://cat.lib.grin.edu/.

COLLECTIONS

The Grinnell College Libraries' collections are selected to support the curriculum of the College and the basic research needs of the faculty. Burling Library houses the bulk of the libraries' collections including the reference collection, Black Library and Latino Collection, Iowa Room and special collections, Listening Room, microform room, and government documents. The Kistler Science Library contains journals and other materials in the science disciplines, and the Curriculum Library is the resource center for the education program. If you need materials not available in our collections, fill out an interlibrary loan form and we will request it for you from another library. For more information about the libraries' collections, consult the libraries' web page at http://www.lib.grinnell.edu/about/collection.html.

OTHER SERVICES

Photocopiers and a microform reader/printer are available in Burling Library. An Aladdin personal reader is available for people with visual impairment. For other services you may find useful, consult the libraries' web page at http//www.lib.grinnell.edu/about/services/.
