Advertising includes any publicly posted or printed materials. Advertising will not include advertising for alcohol, as consistent with the Grinnell College Alcohol Policy. Advertising may not occur if it infringes upon federal, state, local, campus, commercial or copyright laws (e.g., privately shown films that have not purchased proper commercial viewing rights). Advertising must comply with the College's nondiscrimination policy. Advertisers are responsible for the prompt (i.e., within 3 days after the event) removal of their publicly posted or printed materials.
Chalking is prohibited on the sides of college-owned buildings and walls. Signs may not be posted on academic or administrative buildings (excluding the College Bookstore), lamp posts, benches, sidewalks, trees, the top half of residence hall doors, sculptures, or memorials. Certain buildings may have more restrictive policies. It is the responsibility of the advertisers to check with Student Affairs staff members for more information about additional building policies. Items may not be posted on academic or administrative buildings without the permission of the Dean of Students.
Grinnell College encourages and promotes creativity and innovation in advertising; however, we would also like to encourage students to consider the aesthetic qualities of the campus when advertising.
