IMMEDIATE INTERIM LEAVE PRIOR TO JUDICIAL HEARING

At times, a student may endanger other members of the community, or community property, college programs or him/herself. The President of the College, the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, and the Vice-President for Student Services have the right to immediately place a student on an interim leave or suspension pending a hearing with the College Hearing Board.

If, in the judgment of any of these college officials immediate leave or suspension is necessary, the President or Vice-President for Student Services informs the student in writing according to the Grinnell College hearing procedures. The President or Vice-President for Student Services calls the College Hearing Board or Judicial Council to hear the case within a reasonable period of time after the leave or suspension is imposed. When students are placed on an interim leave or suspension, they must immediately leave campus or face mandatory conduct suspension.
