Joyce Stern is dean of student academic support and advising at Grinnell College.   Her work for the last 10 years includes directing the college’s advising program, co-coordinating the Grinnell Science Project and the first-year seminar program, coordinating services for students with disabilities, serving on the academic standing committee, and identifying and reaching out to students experiencing academic difficulty.   She also oversees Student Health and Counseling Services and the Office of International Student Affairs. 

 

Stern graduated from Grinnell in 1991 and completed an M.A. in higher education administration at Stanford University.  Her work in residence life and career development includes experience at Lawrence University (residence director), California Polytechnic State University – San Luis Obispo (coordinator of student development), Scripps College (career counselor), and Coe College (director of career services).
