Following Grinnell College's self-governance philosophy, the Committee is made up of a Films Chair (appointed by the SGA President and confirmed by the Student Senate), 1 senator and 10 students selected from a competitive application process.
The Grinnell College SGA Films receives $50,000 annually to provide cinema programming for the campus community. SGA Films events are free to all members of the Grinnell College community. The goal of the organization is to expose the college community to a variety of genres that will provoke and move audiences. To satisfy the needs of a broad range of demographics at the college, the Committee feels a responsibility to bring both independent and mainstream films to Grinnell. The Committee actively seeks and promotes opportunities to interact directly with filmmakers and purchase screening rights.
