********* INITIATIVES VOTE TODAY !!!! **********
So this is it... Tuesday - SGA Initiatives Day. VOTE ! You're at a
computer right now, there's no excuse. It is VERY important that 50% of
the student body vote. So once you've voted, turn to the person next to
you, or your roommate, or run down the hall and get others to vote.
Let's let Grinnell, Iowa, the U.S, and the world where Grinnell students
stand on the war.
Many thanks to those out tabling today.
Log in at blackboard.grinnell.edu to vote.
VOTE, VOTE, VOTE !!!!!
Also, our results are being expected already by the Institute for Policy
Studies in DC. See a site they put together with many other resolutions:

************* Dec 10th Day of Action ********
Having now helped with the Aid project, put on a film fest, and almost
through with initiatives, we are again at a point of "what next".
Personally I offer a break, a party, relaxation. Let's keep in mind Dec
10th. Places around the country will be demonstrating against the war
that day and Grinnell can join in with that chorus. If you've got
ideas, bring them to the meeting tomorrow.
********* Regional Anti-War meeting in Minneapolis DC 7 & 8th **********
Is anyone interested in going to the below event? Contact Eli
[zigaseli].
The University of Minnesota Coalition Against War on Iraq (CAWI) is
hosting a regional preliminary planning conference December 7th and 8th
in order to establish an agenda for a much larger conference in
February. In light of recent political shifts toward a more conservative
and explicitly aggressive foreign policy, we feel that it is absolutely
necessary to immediately begin building a broad-based movement of
political and social activists in order to stop the war on Iraq. CAWI is
committed to facilitating a planning conference with representatives
from many schools.

Rumsfeld: If no Weapons Found, It Still Means War
http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/11/15/rumsfeld.iraq/index.html
Quote: .... And if, one caller queried, no weapons of mass destruction
were found by U.N. weapons inspectors inside Iraq?
"What it would prove would be that the inspection process had been
successfully defeated by the Iraqis," the secretary said. "There's no
question but that the Iraqi regime is clever, they've spent a lot of
time
hiding things, dispersing things, tunneling underground."

Random Literary Anti-War Notes for the day:
"Of course the people don't want war... That is understood. But after
all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's
always a
simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a
fascist
dictatorship, a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no
voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders.
That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked,
and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the
country to danger. It works the same in any country."
-- Hermann Goering, Adolf Hitler's Deputy Chief and Luftwaffe Commander,
at
the Nuremberg trials, 1946. From "Nuremberg Diary" by G M Gilbert
(Signet, New York, 1947)
