God inspired Mark Henry and Derrick Mitchell to create the G-tones at Grinnell College. Their ultimate goal? Creating a group of some of the sexiest, superior singing beings on Earth. Well, at least on campus. This all-male acappella group was formed in 2002.
They have previously performed across Iowa and in Boston, New York, Minneapolis - St. Paul, Chicago, Nassau, and most recently, London. They have recorded three CDs, Deficit Spending, Shake A Little Hand, and Save the Campus Bikes, and are planning another release sometime in 2006. A Grinnell Hymns CD is also in the works.
The G-Tones are continually increasing their musical vocabulary, with songs ranging from traditional ballads and jazz to barbershop, Broadway, classic rock, and American pop. The G-Tones are Grinnell's signature all male acappella group. After three years, the G-Tones continue to maintain the spontaneity, humor, and quality vocal performances that have made them a campus favorite.
