Bio: Derrick is from Little Rock, Arkansas borned and raised. He graduated from Parkview Arts/Science Magnet High School as a biology concentration. He is a biology/pre-med major at Grinnell. He has been involved in music since the age of 4 when he did his first solo performance in his pre-school play. He plays piano, horribly, and can blow loudly on wind instruments with no harmonious sounds accompanying it. He came from a very musical family that makes him sing every year to test how deep his voice is getting. He is a member of many musical groups on campus, his favorite (besides G-tones, of course) being YGB. He has always been raised in the church and really enjoys gospel music. He hopes to one day be the first man to have a solo concert on the moon (where he will be closer to God). After trying out for American Idol and being humiliated infront of millions of viewers, his goal is to learn how to sing like William Hung and try out again next year in an attempt to finally get the record deal h
